1) Getting Started (From Start to Finish)

Step 1 — Update your device + VPNGuider

  • Update your phone OS (iOS/Android)
  • Update VPNGuider from the App Store / Play Store
  • Restart your phone once after updating (simple but fixes a lot)

Step 2 — Open VPNGuider and complete onboarding

  • Allow the basic permissions VPNGuider asks for (if shown)
  • If you skip onboarding, you can usually restart it from Settings inside the app (if your app has that option)

Step 3 — Take the quiz (recommended)

The quiz helps pick the best VPN based on what matters to you:

  • Streaming
  • Privacy
  • Speed
  • Gaming
  • Torrenting (where legal)
  • Travel / public Wi-Fi

Tip: If you want to compare manually, you can skip quiz and use the compare tool directly.

Step 4 — Compare VPNs

Use the comparison table to check:

  • Price & plans
  • Speed ratings
  • Streaming support
  • Logging policy info
  • Device compatibility
  • Server locations

Step 5 — Choose a VPN and install it

When you tap “Get VPN” (or similar), we send you to the provider’s official page to install/register.

Step 6 — Set up the VPN app itself

VPNGuider is a guide + comparison platform. The actual VPN connection is handled by the VPN provider’s app.
After installing the VPN provider app:

  • Sign in / create account
  • Allow VPN configuration when prompted
  • Tap Connect
  • Choose a country if needed

2) VPNGuider App Not Loading / Crashing

Try these in order:

A) Force close and reopen

  • iPhone: swipe up → swipe away VPNGuider → reopen
  • Android: recent apps → swipe away → reopen

B) Check your internet

  • Switch Wi-Fi ↔ mobile data
  • Try opening a website in your browser

C) Update and restart

  • Update VPNGuider
  • Restart device

D) Clear cache (Android)

  • Settings → Apps → VPNGuider → Storage → Clear cache
(If still broken, “Clear data” may reset app settings.)

E) Reinstall

Uninstall → reinstall → reopen

If it still crashes, email support with:

  • device model
  • OS version
  • screenshot/video of crash
  • what you tapped before it happened

3) Quiz Not Working / Recommendations Not Updating

Common fixes

  1. Check connection (quiz results may need internet)
  2. Close app and reopen
  3. Update app
  4. Reset quiz (if your app has a reset option in Settings)

If recommendations look “wrong”

Remember: results depend on your selected needs.
Try re-taking quiz and confirm:

  • You selected the correct primary goal (streaming vs privacy vs speed)
  • You selected your device type properly
  • You selected your country/region properly (if asked)

4) Comparison Tool Issues (Filters / Sorting / Missing Items)

A) Filters not applying

  • Clear filters
  • Apply filters one by one
  • Restart app and try again

B) Sorting looks incorrect

  • Change sorting method, then change back
  • Refresh the page (if pull-to-refresh exists)

C) Missing VPNs

Sometimes a VPN is not shown due to:

  • region availability
  • limited compatibility
  • provider changes/availability

If you think a major VPN is missing, tell us the VPN name + your country.

5) Reviews / Scores Not Showing Correctly

Why this can happen

  • Connection is unstable
  • App cache holds older data
  • Provider changed features recently and data is being updated

Fix steps

  1. Switch Wi-Fi ↔ mobile data
  2. Close and reopen
  3. Update app
  4. Reinstall

6) “Get VPN” / “Visit Website” Button Not Working

Try this

  • Tap once and wait 2–3 seconds (sometimes your phone blocks popups briefly)
  • Check if your phone has content blockers / DNS blockers enabled
  • Try another network (some Wi-Fi networks block redirects)

iPhone check

  • Settings → Safari → Block Pop-ups (temporarily turn off)
  • Settings → Screen Time → Content Restrictions (if enabled)

Android check

  • Chrome settings → popups/redirects allowed (temporarily)
  • Private DNS settings (may block)

7) VPN App Installation & Setup Help (Most Common)

Once you choose a VPN, you’ll install the provider’s VPN app. Setup issues usually come from permissions.

On iPhone (iOS)

When you connect a VPN for the first time, iOS asks to “Add VPN Configurations”.
You must tap Allow and use Face ID / passcode.

If you accidentally declined:

  • Settings → General → VPN & Device Management (or VPN)
  • Try connecting again from the VPN provider app

On Android

Android may ask:

  • “Connection request”
  • “Always-on VPN”
  • “Allow VPN connection”

Allow it. If it doesn’t prompt:

  • Settings → Network & internet → VPN → enable it

8) VPN Can’t Connect / Keeps Disconnecting

This is usually a network or settings issue (not the comparison app).

Step-by-step fixes

  1. Change network
    • Try mobile data if Wi-Fi fails (or vice versa)
  2. Change server
    • Try a closer country
    • Try a different city/server
  3. Change protocol inside the VPN provider app
    • Try WireGuard / OpenVPN / IKEv2 (depending on provider)
  4. Disable battery optimizations (Android)
    • Settings → Battery → Battery optimization → VPN app → Don’t optimize
  5. Turn off “Low Data Mode” (iOS)
    • Settings → Mobile Data/Wi-Fi → Low Data Mode OFF
  6. Restart device
  7. Reinstall VPN provider app

If you’re in a restricted network

Some workplaces, hotels, or countries block VPN traffic.
Try:

  • switching protocols
  • trying “obfuscated” / “stealth” mode (if provider offers it)
  • using mobile data

9) VPN Speed is Slow (Common Fix Path)

First: run a fair test

  • Disconnect VPN → test speed
  • Connect VPN → test speed again
  • Use the same test site both times

Quick fixes

  1. Choose a nearer server
  2. Change protocol
  3. Turn off extra features (temporarily)
    • ad blocker
    • double VPN
    • “secure core”
  4. Check if your ISP is slow
  5. Try another network
  6. Restart router (if at home)

Tip: For streaming, choose a server in the same country as the streaming service you want.

10) Streaming Not Working (Netflix, iPlayer, Prime Video, etc.)

Streaming services block some VPN IPs. Fixes:

Step-by-step

  1. Switch to a different server in the same country
  2. Close the streaming app fully and reopen
  3. Clear app cache (Android) / reinstall streaming app if needed
  4. Open streaming service in browser to check if account is okay
  5. Use the VPN provider’s “Streaming servers” (some have special servers)
  6. Disable GPS/location for the streaming app (optional)
  7. Try another protocol

If it still fails, it’s usually that the streaming service has blocked that VPN IP range. Try another server or another VPN provider.

11) Login / Account / Subscription Issues (If applicable)

If VPNGuider has login/subscription features:

Can’t log in

  • Confirm email/password
  • Try “Forgot password”
  • Check if you’re signing in with Apple/Google vs email

Subscription not showing

  • Restore purchases (usually in Settings inside the app)
  • Ensure you’re using the same Apple ID / Google account that purchased it
  • Restart app

If still not restored, contact support with:

  • purchase date
  • platform (Apple/Google)
  • receipt screenshot (hide sensitive details)

12) Payments, Refunds & Billing Questions

If you purchased via Apple App Store

  • Apple controls billing and refunds
  • You may need to request refunds through Apple purchase history

If you purchased via Google Play

  • Google controls billing and refunds
  • Refund options depend on time since purchase

If you purchased a VPN provider subscription

That billing is handled by the VPN provider, not VPNGuider.
You’ll need to contact the VPN provider support for:

  • refunds
  • account changes
  • cancellations
  • payment errors

13) Privacy, Data & Permissions

VPNGuider is a comparison and guidance platform.
Your actual VPN connection is handled by the VPN provider app you choose.

Common permissions explained

  • Network access: needed to load comparisons and content
  • Analytics (if enabled): helps improve app performance (optional depending on your setup)
  • Notifications (optional): used for updates or alerts (only if you enable)

For more detail, see:

  • Privacy Policy: (link)
  • Terms of Service: (link)

14) Device Settings That Commonly Block VPNs

iPhone / iPad

  • Low Data Mode ON
  • VPN profile conflicts (old VPN profiles installed)
  • Private Relay (iCloud) conflicts in rare cases (try turning off temporarily)

Android

  • Battery optimization killing the VPN app
  • Private DNS blocking VPN traffic
  • “Always-on VPN” conflicts with another VPN app
